Andy King: The Right Fit for Leicester City?

Leicester cannot continue to play with ten men for most of the games going forward. Andy King is the favourite to become the next permanent Leicester manager, as everything looks doomed. There are no news and just speculations about the next man in charge. Andy King is the bookies favourite. Only 15 games left of the season, and if a new man should be coming in at this moment it must happen next week, no need to do it later, then being stucked with Andy King, who has not yet managed to set his mark on anything, looks a massive relegation fight.

What we have seen from Andy King since taking over, is nothing. The team and the players are the same, possibly with an exception in Jemaal Lascelles, hopefully building momentum from his positive debut today.

To keep on playing with Andy King in charge looks at this point as a bad idea, and so far nothing to build on from his first two games, defeats vs. Charlton and Birmingham. A new game coming up on Tuesday, hopefully we can see something from that game or else a change is needed. Marti Cifuentes had a long career in mangement with Sandefjord, Aalborg, Hammarby and Queens Park Rangers before taking over this difficult job. To believe an unproven man, and his legacy, as the only thing needed, to get this club out of this mess, is to be naive.

We would like to see Gary Rowett coming in for a short term job, and if he does well, let him continue. The race at the moment looks a strange one. Russell Martin is a top choice alongside Andy King, but neither would be suited for this job long term. Leicester do not a have group of players that can play the type of football that these manager types are teaching. It looks a suicide act. What is needed is one making this very simple.

To go back to all the nostalgia would possibly suit some of the romantic fans who always believe going back is the best solution to get forward. We totally diasagree.

Four debutants in one game is many. We did see Joe Aribo, Jamaal Lascelles, Dujuan Richards and Divine Mikasa being involved. Aribo showed that he can cope with this division, but he was placed in midfield alongside Bobby De Cordova-Reid and Oliver Skipp, not utilized in the best way, as his pace and movement never came to surface. Jamaal Lascelles played a good game and was solid. He played in his preferred position.

Dujuan Richards and Divine Mikasa had very little time to show themselves, but we do believe Pep Guardiola when he rates Mikasa very highly. The message from Andy King, that Dujuan Richards was an alternative to play on the flank. Almost threwing up, when hearing that, believed Richards would be a real challenger for the top forward postion. Leicester do not have a proper top attacking option. When you bring in four new players, this message about Dujuan Richards came as a shock.

Leicester do not have enough physical presence to be a force in The Championship. Wilfred Ndidi is massivly missed and has not really been replaced. Oliver Skipp is at the moment the tackler in the team and he is trying his best. Harry Winks is not a tackler and why Leicester have not brought in this type of player makes it obvious that Caleb Okoli or Jamaal Lascelles needs to be pushed into midfield to put some physical presence into that area.

A new defeat at home to Southampton and shocking behaviour among players on the field, doing stupid errors, will of course stop any progress. Hopefully Leicester can play 11 vs. 11 this time and give Andy King a proper chance to show his worth. The problem with it all is that you can not really see a pattern of any kind, that is the major worry. It’s one man alone in most of what is happening. The change of goalkeeper was also a major error today, Asmir Begovic is no solution, rather try Fran Vieites or go back to Jacub. Surely the goalkeeper coach, must be able to judge who is the number one.
