This season a new JJ turned up at this football club, as another moved on. Jordan James arrived as sudden as James Justin departured. Looking up the files on former Leicester players, these two are far from the first with these special initials.
We have looked them all up in this special story about The JJ Files.
Goalkeeper, John Jarvie
John Jarvie was born on 19th October 1900 and died on 30th January 1985. He joined Leicester from Third Lanark in 1925 and played 5 league games as the backup goalkeeper to Albert Godderidge. His time at the club was brief, and he moved to Portsmouth a year later.
Midfield, Jimmy Johnson
Information is limited on the player described as a right-half, what in these days would be seen as a midfielder. Active in the years from 1886 to 1892. Being involved, alongside his brother Teddy, in the first ever trophy winning Leicester team, lifting the County Cup. He also appeared in FA Cup games.
Midfield, Jimmy Johnston
A number of years later, Jimmy Johnston turned up. He played for Leicester City from 1947 to 1950. A total of 36 appearances, 35 in the league and 1 in the FA Cup. He was at the club when they reaced their first FA Cup final, but was not involved, being injured at the time. He left Leicester to join Reading.
JJ, Abdul, Louis and Lorenz were all winners in our End of Season Awards voting.

Defender, Joe Jopling
For us who started to support Leicester in the early seventees, Joe Jopling, became some sort of a cult figure. He joined Leicester from Aldershot in September 1970. He left four years later, having only appeared 3 times in the league, to rejoin Aldershot. He was a legend for The Shots, but limited times at Leicester, having stiff competition for the left back postion, from great players such as Dennis Rofe and David Nish.
Forward, Julian Joachim
Julian was a teenage star for Leicester in the mid-nineties. He quickly became a fan favorite and was included in the first team by Brian Little, who later signed him for a record fee at Aston Villa. Joachim played professionally until 2008, moving into non-league football. He stayed in the game as a player long into his fourties.
Midfield, Jason Jarrett
Jason Jarrett joined Leicester on loan from Preston. In his short spell at the club, he was on the field in 13 games, this was back in 2006-07 season, helping Leicester to a secure place in the second tier. Jarrett was born in 1979 and 28 years of age at the time.
Defender, James Justin
James Justin arrived at Leicester from Luton in 2019, leaving to join Leeds in 2025. He played 140 league games for Leicester, scoring 6 goals. He made his debut for England vs. Hungary in 2022, still having just that one cap to his name. A great servant for the club, being played at both right and left back.
Midfield, Jordan James
Jordan James was the last JJ to arrive, joining on loan from Rennes for the 20205/26 season. In the season also representing Wales in several international matches as a Leicester player, scoring 11 goals in 34 league games. He concluded the relegation season with the Player of the Year award.
Midfield: Jorrin John
He never played in the Leicester first team. He was signed from Aston Villa in 2010, but left a year later to try his luck in Thailand. He is still in the game at the age of 35, last seen in action for Rugby Borough this season.
The JJ files will be updates with more names when and if new players appear at the club with those special initials. Could be we have missed one, so if you have another JJ to report on, please make contact via our contact form in our website section.
