Leicester City and their World Cup Winners, The Bronze Winners and Third Place Finalists

Gordon Banks is the only player representing Leicester in a World Cup final and winning it. He did that with England in 1966. The closest we get is N’Golo Kantè being influential and crowned World Cup winner in 2018, two years after leaving Leicester.

Kantè missed the Qatar 2022 World Cup, being out injured. Another player to have played in a World Cup final with a previous life at the club was Andrej Kramaric, appearing in the 2018 final for Croatia. Kramaric came on as a sub in the 71st minute. Andrej Kramaric and N’Golo Kantè are both representing their countries in this years World Cup.

In 2014 Ron-Robert Zieler was part of the German squad, when they became World Cup winners. Zieler got his gold medal, without playing games. Leicester signed Zieler from Hannover in 2016. He returned to Germany a year later to play for Stuttgart.

To get to the bronze final is a major achivement. Muzzy Izzet is the only player representing Leicester, to be a bronze winner. Winning it with Turkey in 2010, defeateing home nation South Korea.

Youri Tielemans was in the Belgium team, defeating England 2-0 in the 2018 Bronze final, at the time playing for Monaco. Harry Maguire and Jamie Vardy were both in the England squad and at Leicester when appearing in the 2018 World Cup. Harry Kane also in the England set up.

Andrej Kramaric picked up a bronze medal in the 2022 World Cup, representing Hoffenheim, playing for Croatia in that bronze game, ending in a 2-1 win vs. Morocco. Bilal El Khannouss played for Morocco.

Pontus Kamark won the bronze in 1994, representing Sweden. At the time playing for IFK Gothenburg. He was not on the field in the bronze final, but played earlier in the tournament.

In 1990 England played in the bronze final, but lost to Italy, 1-2. Gary Lineker and Peter Shilton represented England in the game. At the time playing for Tottenham (GL) and Derby (PS).
