Enzo Maresca has freely walked in to jobs with the risk of huge changes to appear, so what is his thought behind such an acceptance and why is he taking the risk?
Pep Guardiola made Man City the top club they are, not the owners. Some people believe footballers are coming in a package, ready to perform. The way this club has developed and build up a system and being innovative is beyond everything.
You can’t just buy a football team and win everything, that is the easy walk of certain people not really understanding how this is set up.
You need money, loads of money, to do what Man City have done, but listening to financial experts explaining their solutions and special formulas, they all have just a small line of the answer. They don’t really understand what this progress has done to football in England. The England national team is performing better than ever. Manchester as an area have seen business growth, and the Man City progress is a huge part of that. Man City is the team of this city, Man Utd having a much broader and global affair going on.
Looking at Leicester in the same frame, you see a club heavilly damaged at the moment, fighting for their lives in the mid table area of League One. Very few fans think much about what the Thai owners have done for the city with the decline in the Leicester team performance. The wrong doing in squad build and desperate acts of selling players of value, becomes the words of critisism.
Football managers are of course ready to jump on the wagon of heavy salaries, but are also looking carefully for the footballing side of the matter, easilly seen in choices done by people such as Geaham Potter, Carlo Ancelotti and Jurgen Klopp, no longer part of club team football.
Enzo Maresca walked into the job at Leicester with a vision of bringing the club back to Premier League. He was cleverly picked by the people who have done all the errors before and after appointing him. You can say Leicester breached rules and regulations to win, but signing Harry Winks, Conor Coady and Stephy Mavididi, selling James Maddison and Harvey Barnes, is far from a solution and an answer to accept and use as a conclusion.
Enzo Maresca brought back Jannik Vestergaard in the team, also balancing his midfield out in a good set up, and building his attacking front line in a way that made this click.
Some did not like his style of play, but in the ideal world with other players, as we did see at Chelsea, it all became more direct and fluid. The start at Man City with a full strike so far, would see those critics totally on the wrong foot in judgement of the style of play.
The start to the season has been phenomenal for Man City, so will it be possible for The Blues to continue this ride, not getting affected by the noice and pre judged people, media pundits and former footballers with a life far from the Man City home locker.
Man City have the odds against them, so did Leicester and Chelsea, all being managed by Enzo Maresca in difficult waters. He never let his focus change, concentrating on the team, his staff and having his eyes fully on what he could control.
He is a man, like Pep, who knows the answer. He will not be sharing any secrets. Without those answers and calculations, he would not have walked into this job.
We all know that Leicester would have avoided every sanction, or possibly been deducted half of the points they did, saving themselves in Premier League. This was the calculation done by Enzo, when he stepped into the job at Leicester.
If you have any knowledge on how a person in football management thinks, you would not have written a single line about Man City, before a final solution is clear.
Even Man City at this point must be given a chance to defend themselves, anything else would be strange. What at this moment look clear and obvious, based on media articles, women and men in the streets and a couple of old dogs, are far from the closure of this affair. Enzo would never have stepped back into these waters again, if had no idea of the short term outcome. All of us have to wait for the final answers to appear, before making a certain conclution..
