The U21 development squad has struggled this season but showed improved form in their latest match, drawing 2–2 with local rivals Nottingham Forest on 6 November. James Quinn and Luqman Aideed scored the goals.

U21 head coach, Leon McSweenie, fielded a young team on the day. Harry French in goal. Defenders, Luqman Aideed (17) on the right, Mirsad Ali (20) to the left, Michael Toko (17), captaining the team, and Alpha Diallo (18) in the middle.

N Ireland U21 international Ryan Donnelly (20) in the defensive midfield role. England U18 international, Hugo De Lisle (17) and Joe Corden (18) in the other two midfield postions. James Quinn (15) made his U21 debut, at just 15 years and 344 days old. The winger James Quinn scored on his Premier League 2 debut.

David Anugo (18) on the left flank and Lorenz Hutchinson (18) completing the line-up. Harry Sutherington (18) and Bismark Owosu (17) coming on from the subs bench during the game.

No Tommy Neale, Riley Carr or Kevon Gray in the line-up, all of them potentially players who could strengthen the team, but again this shows how much talent Leicester have in their own ranks.

The U21’s defeated Arsenal 4-1 in a game recently, fielding Tommy Neale, Riley Carr, Olabade Aluko and Admir Bristric, showing that they can compete with the very best, fielding a more experienced line-up.

The U18 team is also struggling. They are second from bottom in the U18 Premier League, with three draws and two defeats in their last five games. Their last outing on the 7th of November, they played in a cup competion vs. Everton, losing 2-3, in an even affair. They also second from bottom, so a lot to improve to be able to compete properly in this environment.

Jake Fletcher scored both goals for Leicester in this recent cup game against Everton. He has been on the scoresheet in different games this season, recently in the league vs. Wolves (1-1) and Liverpool (2-2) The group is of course a bit fractured when you field 17 year old players in the U21 team and this will of course weaken the performance.

An interesting group and the names to follow are the following, forwards, Jake Fletcher, Damian Machaka midfielders, David Anugo, Bartosz Kosiorek, Luqman Aideed, Tanashe Manyumba, Lyndon Charin Turrell, Harry Sutherington, Michael Toko, Rollo Szembell, Harry Jacklin defenders, Alfie Dignum, Fabien Simons goalkeepers, Freddie Marson, Leo Stretton

Former Czech Republic U16 international Josh King is a player to have an eye on. He can also represent Scotland, but the 19 year old is waiting for more opportunities at international level to decide on his next step.

Interesting to also explore this U18 group, having players who can represent Poland (Bartosz Kosiorek), Romania (David Anugo), Thailand (Jake Fletcher) and Gibraltar (Lyndon Charin Turrell).
