After a long wait, finally we will see the move of Harry Maguire to Manchester United. A move that has been on since last summer looks to find a final solution as Leicester City again will see another “big name” leave.
A number of fans believe that a sale of Harry Maguire will not affect the clubs ambitions of a climb up the table, but TCF believe the total opposite. A strange strategy indeed to try to climb mountains and selling the best climbers.
Of course it can be possible to replace Harry Maguire at Leicester City, but to step into his shoes will not be easy. Leicester City will not slowly die because of this sale, but they will tell the rest of the clubs that this club is just a “stepping stone” and nothing more.
The problem for Leicester City is to define their own stature as Brendan Rodgers is eager to try to challenge the top six clubs. That will not happen if you sell your best players summer after summer.
Manchester United left Romelu Lukaku out of their recent Norway tour squad and he will be trying to get a move to Inter, with a fee similar to the Maguire fee, and then Man Utd have the money to use on Maguire, without jeopardizing their transfer budget to use on other players.
We wish Harry Maguire all the best at Manchester United, he has been a great servant to Leicester City and done more than anyone had thought was possible and benefitted from playing with experienced players that made him take that climb.
No official statement to be seen yet, but certainly that will come sooner rather than later as this move has dragged out over the last couple of months.
TCF earlier described the situation at Leicester City as it is, and hopefully, with sales of a number of fringe players, money will be available for one more quality signing in the other end of the field.
Wes Morgan, Jonny Evans, Filip Benkovic and Caglar Soyuncu are all good alternatives in the role of Harry Maguire. James Justin and Daniel Amartey are also players that can slot into a central defense role, so can’t see why the club should use money on a new central defender.
James Justin, seen as a right back alternative, could be the sensational replacement, with a bright future at top level, joining from Luton Town this summer.
In a poll published in the Manchester Evening News, Man Utd fans are happy to see Harry Maguire at MU, and believe his position should be strengthened and that the Leicester City defender fits the bill.
A poll at Leicester City fans forum Foxes Talk tells a story of a player that will stay at Leicester City, but TCF disagree with that and based on all the talk, rumours, possible transfer activity at the clubs going forward this move looks certain to go through.
