Dramatic u-turn in Leicester midfielders supposed move to Galatasaray, with Torino’s Praet scoring his first goal for Belgium

Nampalys Mendy was on international duty for Senegal when news strike that he could have sealed a loan deal with Galatasaray, but everything fell through due to flight problems and not reaching Istanbul in time.

The transfer window in certain countries had an extra week with Turkey shutting at the 8th of September. We were a bit surprised to see a possible Papy Mendy exit since both Dennis Praet and also Hamza Choudhury has been more selling options this summer.

The fact that Boubakary Soumare and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall are in favor and in front of the the others in the pecking order right now, might have triggered both owner and Brendan Rodgers to save a bit of money on wages seeing and opportunity for the players to move out.

Dennis Praet are gone, he has joined Torino, and looks as if that was a good change for him, also scoring his first goal for his country in the 1-0 win v. Belarus.

Leicester did not include Papy Mendy in their Europa League squad and that might have been a key reason, to see him make a switch to another club just before all transfer windows were closed, but sadly for Mendy he will be staying on for at least until January. Struggling a bit in the opening weeks of the season with an injury picked up at a previous international session.

Papy Mendy was not involved in any of the two Senegal wins in this campaign, defeating Togo and Congo, but as we did see in the report above, been on the tour.

With that late drama in Papy Mendy’s loan approach and that nothing happened we will see an even stronger Leicester squad in all events coming up. We all know including Brendan Rodgers that he needs a trim his list of players as many will be without much first team game time until January.
