Leicester are through to the quarter finals of the Europa Conference League, so are Bodo Glimt from Norway. They are both competing in this competition after being knocked out of other European competitions at earlier stages in the season.
We had expected to see Leicester in this battle but to see Kamal Sowah in the middle of the heat as a midfielder for AZ Alkmaar might have been more unexpected.
Kamal Sowah made a loan move from Brugge to AZ in January and came on in 2nd half to try to get some momentum for the Dutch team. But as we have seen in the past Bodo is no mice in football and are at the moment flying high after wins in this competition vs. Celtic and AZ and also a sensational hammering of Jose Mourinho and Roma at an earlier stage.
Russian clubs are at the moment not allowed to compete in Europe due to the war in Ukraine, but still individual players representing other clubs outside of Russia can play on. 26 year old Nikita Haikin is a quality goalkeeper and one of great importance in this climb.
Haikin stopped attempt from Sowah and other AZ players and had a good game in goal again for Bodo Glimt as they know could face Leicester in the quarter finals, with them in there are PAOK, PSV, Feyenoord, Roma, Marseille and Slavia Prague.
Kamal Sowah will of course continue his spell with AZ and hopefully continue his spell and help AZ to a top postion in Dutch football. They are currently 4th and hopefully will be qualified for more European action next season.
AZ and Bodo drew 2-2 yesterday, Kamal Sowah played from the 81st minute and had good impact and played in extra time, but had to see Bodo score and losing out on a quarter final experience..
