Most talk recently has been on Wesley Fofana and his move to Chelsea, but another Fofana, David Datro, is at present shining in Norwegian football. The player will be seen as a selling object in January as the Norwegian league at that point is in hibernation.

The 19 year old Ivorian is a player with pace and could be ideal in a Leicester set up. Players in Norwegian football tends to go a bit under the radar for English clubs as they mostly join clubs in Germany, Holland, Belgium and Italy at present.

TCF is a place to look if you are not after the obvious as we do follow Scandinavian football close and earlier had stories about Jens Petter Hauge from Eintracht Frankfurt who has this summer joined Gent on loan and also Jorgen Strand Larsen who recently moved from Groningen to Celta Vigo for a fee of €11million.

Leicester do have a reputation of bringing forward talent themselves and also under the management of Brendan Rodgers players such as Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Luke Thomas and Harvey Barnes are good examples of great academy work.

So why should Leicester look for Fofana in January, and it’s not Wesley we are talking about, but David Datro Fofana of Molde. A player that could be available for a fee in the region of £10million and at this point the hottest prospect in Norwegian football at present.

David Datro Fofana made his full international debut for his nation Ivory Coast back in 2019, but has since missed out. Still only 19, moving to Molde in 2021, being introduced softly last season, and in this campaign shone brighly.

14 goals in 49 games are not a bad tally, and this season 7 goals in 14 games, so the young forward is in great progress as he peaks his performances week in and week out. Molde recently made it to the group stages of the Europa Conference League, and will be in a group of four with Shamrock Rovers of Ireland, Djurgarden from Sweden and Belgian club Gent.

Leicester need to be clever and not just scout the obvious as they look for talent in football. This transfer window did pull Wout Faes out of the hat as he was not an obvious target, but still can become a very special player at the club. In January why not look for a new Fofana, as the previous one was not the worst signing done.

A fun fact is that David Datro Fofana is at present living in the former appartment of Erling Braut-Haaland who had a relatively short spell at Molde from February 2017 to August 2019, adding up 14 goals in 39 league games.
