Brendan Rodgers has to go back to basics as Leicester must play their best players in their natural positions

Difficult times for Leicester as they are preparing for their next game in Premier League vs. Aston Villa. We do hope that a selection is going back to basics and that the experiment period comes to an end.

One of the basics in such a plan must be to play your best players and of course using them in their best positions and not push them around like crash test dummies.

We all know that Leicester have done it best in a 4-3-3 formation and players used in their best positions. Brendan Rodgers has a grand dilemma regarding Youri Tielemans and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. Playing both will see either Wilfred Ndidi or James Maddison pushed out of their preferred positions.

Youri Tielemans has not been at his best without Wilfred Ndidi or Papy Mendy in the midfield as his role becomes different without one of them in the midfield area. So either Youri or KDH, but not both, it does not help one of the best midfielders in football.

Wout Faes is ready to be included in the match squad and his presence is of course interesting. Caglar Soyuncu will not move on as his possible departure back to Turkey was blocked by Leicester and we do hope that Cags will be in there and included for the games coming.

Cags has since joining Leicester been linked to Real Madrid and Man City, but a bit of a dip lately has seen him out of contention, hopefully he will soon return in his best form.

You have a difficult situation regarding goalkeepers as Danny Ward has not yet been to a level that would see him a certainty and it’s a bit of a make or break against Aston Villa regarding this position. Daniel Iversen was last season player of the year at Preston and his presence at Leicester and in the EFL Cup game vs. Stockport speaks for itself.

The use of Timothy Castagne is also something to address as his quality is on a level that should see him play every game. The Belgian international can’t be sitting on the bench if Leicester are to win football games. Castagne has shown enough the be cemented into that left back position.

Up front Leicester need to play with three, and no one should question Jamie Vardy as his presence is needed. Harvey Barnes is the best wide player at the club and also a certainty. TCF is in favor of Ayoze Perez as the third alternative up front, but also Marc Albrighton or Tawanda Maswanhise must be taken in to consideraton.

In this picture you will have two fantastic players to use if anything happens and both Kelechi Iheanacho and Patson Daka must be seen as other alternatives, but still a 4-3-3 system works against both, but still Leicester do have a luxury problem.

Dennis Praet, Bouba Soumare and Papy Mendy are three other midfielders to fill the bench as they all can be called on, but at this point the team needs to find their momentum with the following hopefully to be in place for the game vs. Aston Villa.

Preferred system and line-up;

Iversen – Justin, Evans, Faes, Castagne – Ndidi, Tielemans, Maddison – Barnes, Vardy, Perez
