Leicester and another alternative captain as James Maddison was next to lead the team out vs. Tottenham

This season we have seen a number of players leading out the team on different occasions, today it was James Maddison’s chance. Jonny Evans is the “real” captain, but his presence has been little and not major this season, being out with injuries.

Kasper Schmeichel did take on the captaincy in his only game for Leicester this season, coming on in pre-season for a farewell game vs. Sevilla. Kelechi Iheanacho had the armband in the first pre-season game vs. Notts County.

Jamie Vardy had the armband vs. Leuven, and has also captained the team on other occasions this season as well. Youri Tielemans had been the regular captain this season and had it vs. Hull in that pre-season friendly as well.

Marc Albrighton has also been captain this season, but now he is out on loan at West Bromwich. New signing Harry Souttar has also experience from being captain, as he had that job at his previous club Stoke.

The armband has been on a massive round this season. We have not forgotten Wilfred Ndidi who has also had the armband, he was captain vs. Liverpool. This is of course a bit strange, to have so many leading the team out, but it is a reason for it.

Schmeichel and Albrighton are both gone, Evans and Ndidi has struggled with injuries during the season, Youri Tielemans was out today and it was nice to see James Maddison wearing the armband, showing great leadership as the team went on to win 4-1.

Wout Faes is also a former captain at previous levels and of course not forgetting Ricardo Pereira who has also weared the armbind in the past at Leicester.

We do believe that it might be much to bother about, but still to have him in the team and a regular performer would be what we would like to see, but of course respect the situation with Jonny Evans, as he has struggled with injuries.

Again James Maddison became a new one on this day, doing that job perfectly in the absence of a number of players either out or placed on the bench.
