Jannik Vestergaard and Victor Kristiansen were both in the starting eleven as Denmark defeated Slovenia 2-1 in “Parken”. Kasper Schmeichel still holds Mads Hermansen on the bench as experience is important for Danish coach Kasper Hjulmand.

Denmark took the lead early on, Victor Kristiansen assisting with a great pass to Joakim Mæhle, both full backs contributing from each side, fantastic to watch as the ball went in behind Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak.

Leicester do have a lot of Danish influence at present, with Jannik Vestergaard and Mads Hermansen key men in the Enzo Maresca belief, playing out on the floor from the back. This has of course not been overlooked by Danish coach Kasper Hjulmand, bringing Vestergaard straight back in the line-up.

So fantastic to see the new life of Jannik Vestergaard, getting back to a life he surely love, to play for Leicester and be in the heart of the Denmark defence as they prepare for the Euro’s next summer.

Danish influence at Leicester, of course being dominated by the long career of Kasper Schmeichel, now with Anderlecht, as the most influencial Danish player at the club. Daniel Iversen, currently in the freezer, experiencing a difficult situation at the club, far behind in the pecking order with Mads Hermansen doing his job perfectly at present.

Victor Kristiansen is still at Leicester player, currently on loan with Bologna, as the Serie A club looks to have found his qualites much valued, playing as a traditional offensive left back, a role he also played to perfection in this qualifier vs. Slovenia.
