Leicester managed to agree a loan move for Daniel Iversen, joining Stoke this week, and could also hopefully get a deal done to be able to give their third choice, Danny Ward a chance to get back in action. Ward (30) is still regarded as Wales first choice and to get game time at club level is vital going forward.
Earlier in the week it was also claimed that Sheffield United had hopes of getting a deal done to bring Kasper Schmeichel to the club, but to see both of the two joining looks far from happening.
Kasper Schmeichel left Leicester in the summer of 2022 to join Nice, after a season in France he is now with Belgian club Anderlecht, among a grand number of Danish players part of their squad. Schmeichel (37) is still very much in demand as he prepares for his next major tournament next summer.
Kasper Schmeichel has also been linked with other clubs, seeing Chelsea as a possible destination, but the main focus for the Danish shotstopper is to play week in and week out to keep his form intact for that special even taking place in the summer.
Wales are still in chase for a place in the same tournament, playing qualifiers vs. Finland in March. Danny Ward will join Sheffield United with the thought of getting regular first team game time, and of course getting that at Premier League level would be fantastic.
Jakub Stolarczyk was the preferred back up choice for Enzo Maresca in the FA Cup 3rd round clash with Millwall, giving Mads Hermansen a rest and having Danny Ward on the subs bench.
