The final in the AFCON included a number of Leicester relations as Kelechi Iheanacho came on as a sub for Nigeria, but could not help his team, being defeated by Max Gradel and Ivory Coast.

Nigeria took the lead early on first half, with former Leicester players Calvin Bassey and Ademola Lookman both starting for The Super Eagles. Max Gradel was in the starting line up of Ivory Coast.

Ahmed Musa and Kelechi Iheanacho were both named on the bench as five Leicester relations were involved in this fantastic tournament, the final being being watched by FIFA representatives Arsene Wenger and Gianni Infantino.

The host nation Ivory Coast did the extraordinary and sacked their manager, Jean Louis Gasset, during the tournament, ending third in the group stages. The team was taken over by Emerse Fae stearing the team to the winners medal.

The major man of the final was Sebastien Haller, scoring the winner and also the vital goal seeing them through to the final. We all now the story of the former West Ham and Ajax forward, that at present is playing for Borussia Dortmund.

Of course sad to see Kelechi Iheanacho ending his tournament on the losing side in the final, but should be proud of his participation, taking that special penalty kick that took Nigeria to the final, today he entered the field in the 79th minute replacing Ademola Lookman.
