We have seen how Ben Nelson has taken steps this season, today Will Alves was back on the bench for the away game vs. Watford. The 18 year old is one of the brightest talents in the factory often named “acdemy” or “development”.

Enzo Maresca has showns his willingness to bring young talent forward, giving game time to Tawanda Maswanhise, Marcal Madivadua, Arjan Raikhy and Brandon Cover. Alves and hopefully soon Braybrooke will be in the frame for a first team appearance again.

The introduction of Kasey McAteer this season is also one breakthrough to notice as this season might come as a gift, being able to play at a lower level and being competitive. Premier League is a monster act and to survive you need game time and a bit of luck, as your playing position will give you the answer.

Will Alves is a player that can play out wide, in the middle just behind the forward and even do a more traditional midfield job, and looking at options, we hopefully will see him soon the first team, as he can become one of the most interesting players in the future.

His recovery looks to have been a success, but still a surprise to see him on the bench so early after just one appearance in 2024, being in the u.21 team for the 3.2 win vs. Brentford in the PLC on the 2nd of February.

Alves made his debut two years ago, strangely enough against Watford, in a FA Cup game, winning 4-1, coming on in the 83rd minute. He has also played in the EFL Cup once, but still waiting for his first team league debut.
