Leicester did major business last summer with the aim of returning to Premier League. The signings of Yunus Akgun, Conor Coady, Abdul Fatawu and Mads Hermansen all had special clauses build into their contracts, being effective if Leicester gained promotion.
The Athletic reported that Leicester had to pay €17million for Fatawu, if they were promoted. The loan fee paid was €750.000, so in total a cost of nearly €17,750million. Taking into consideration that the young flank forward is inexperienced at the highest club level, with just a handful of games for Sporting to report, it looks a major fee.
Danish news sources Tipsbladet and Bold, recently published an article, with a possible €500.000 to be paid out for Mads Hermansen. This is said to be a bonus triggered if promotion was achieved.
Hermansen has been a vital addition to the team and squad, being able to fulfill the ambtions of Enzo Maresca and his special approach to play out from the back. He was together with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall the two Leicester players named in the Sky Bet Championship team of the season. Leeds winger Crysencio Summerville was voted player of the season.
Leicester also have to pay Wolves £1million, with a promotion bonus put into the Conor Coady deal, when letting their captain leave last summer. Yunus Akgun also moved to Leicester last summer on loan, but the clause build into his contract will not trigger a move as his tally of games, can’t get over the 25 cap, he is on 21 league games at this point.
