Starts to Callum Doyle, Patson Daka and Ricardo Pereira, placing Jamie Vardy, James Justin and Hamza Choudhury on the bench. To have a rotation at this point looks vital and important.
Ricardo back in the team made it all a different setting. It showed clearly as KDH looked more free and able to press higher. Norwich looked totally rolled over as they had little or no say on the day.
Leicester had the same possession during 90 minutes as we did see vs. Bristol City. The domination was seen with Abdul Fatawu and Stephy Mavadidi much more involved. Even though would have loved to see Fatawu even more aggressive, but his workrate is fantastic and a much better performance than against Bristol City. Dropping him would have been wrong doing, so happy for him today.
With a higher press level, Leicester made this a one team game, so then to see a sloppy goal being let in after 20 minutes was a massive negative. To not have a single player on the post on a corner is a risk and especially not being able to cover the space in front of it, makes it all dangerous and that is a problem with the modern game, with all these new ideas, but anyway, the ball went in and Leicester were 1-0 down, a massive blow again, as Leicester looked controlled and in nice balance just in front.
But Leicester had their selfbelief and managed to put power in their runs and dribbles and a long and fantastic ball from Wilfred Ndidi found Stephy Mavididi as he assisted KDH for him to just put his head on the ball, 33 minutes, 1-1. After it the game ebbed out with this result on the scoresheet.
Coming out 2nd half, Leicester started to press constantly to break the duck in the 61st minute. A beauty from Stephy Mavididi, made the day, as his ball found the right corner and it was wonderfully positioned from the left flank man.
Norwich had in real no idea, and when they started to take more risk, Leicester got their opening, Jamie Vardy getting the last touch, in a bit of bowling, another goal scored in stoppage time, 3-1. This made the day wonderful and complete. A fully deserved win and hopefully this will continue, so much better player by player that we cannot throw away wins as we have seen in the past month, but again Ricardo in the team is so vital, as his presence makes the team more settled.
Next up is Birmingham at home on Saturday. With the same attitude and fluid play, we will certainly be looking forward to another 3 points coming. To see the comments from Khun Top in the match programme was also settling. This should be enough to get us all to focus on what counts the most, football.
- Positives
- The pressing and the belief spread with Ricardo back in the team
- Great goals scored, Vardy, Mavididi and Dewsbury-Hall showing their importance
- Having that aggressive approach not really being affected by the opponent
- Callum Doyle showing us all why he is a player for the starting eleven
- Ndidi having a good game, doing his runs into the box
- Vardy on his best stats ever, counting goals per minute played
- Negatives
- Vestergaard yellow card
- Sloppy defending when Norwich scored
- Fatawu not being more aggressive, should be attacking more one against one
- Getting the ball faster out to the flanks instead of walking with the ball
