Why Chelsea Loves Signing Leicester Players

In recent years Chelsea have flushed out millions to Leicester for talented players. They even paid £10million to get Leicester manager Enzo Maresca. We have examined the relations with Chelsea. Why is this club so keen to do business with Leicester?

The first major sale from Leicester to Chelsea in this time period was N’Golo Kantè. Then a season later Danny Drinkwater took the same route. The latest major move to happen was Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall who joined before this season. Ben Chilwell and Wesley Fofana er others following the same path.

There is no proof but often players follow managers when they sign for a new club. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall agreed to his move promptly. This helped to manage the figures for Leicester to avoid PSR and FFP problems.

The obvious was not to sign for Chelsea, but it all happened. This season, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has not been the main man. However, he has done his job in Europe. His new club looks to sail into the final shores of the Europa Conference tournament.

Leicester looks to be a farmer club for Chelsea. This is very strange when both clubs have competed at the same level. We all know the financial muscles of the London club, but still it is a strange situation.

Leicester players are both homegrown talents and foreign recruits. They tend to believe life in football can be much better at Chelsea. They focus on this club instead of building a reputation and belief where they are.

The relations to Chelsea appear more like a pattern and grounded route. It is not just a random selection ending up at Leicester every time.

The bond between the two clubs at a higher level could live on. This is possible even with the new ownership at Chelsea in place. We all know that trust builds up over years between two parties. The last player to be signed by Chelsea before N’Golo Kantè, was Dennis Rofe. Rofe joined The Blues back in February 1980 for a fee of £80.000. So the start of all those transfers was with the N’Golo Kante move.

Several players have gone the opposite way. The full group of men in both camps is a nice reead.
