Oliver Skipp, Jordan Ayew, Jacub Stolarczyk and James Justin were given starting positions in the absent of Ricardo Pereira, Mads Hermansen, Bobby De Cordova-Reid who all had to withdraw. Bouba Soumare was on the bench.

Youngsters Michael Golding, Jake Evans and Jeremy Monga were also on the bench. A chance for a win was always there in a game against the bottom team in this division.

Leicester managed to put a bit of pressure on Southampton from start, and in the 17th minute Jamie Vardy found the goal with a nice shot, getting a nice pass from Bilal El Khannouss who had a good game today, being lively from start.

The game was stopped in the 22nd minute. Jordan Ayew crashed with the referee. He went down and the game was stopped for 11 minutes. The referee David Webb had to withdraw with one of the linesmen taking over.

Leicester continued in their good shape. Then in the 44th minute Leicester were rewarded a free kick just outside the penalty area. Jordan Ayew took the free kick, hit the wall, the ball coming back into his feet and his shot found the goal. A nice shot and well placed, Leicester were 2-0 up.

Leicester controlled the second half in a way we have not seen this season. It was calmly done and especially the back four and goalkeeper Jacub Stolarczyk all made a solid impression.

Jeremy Monga replaced Jordan Ayew after 70 minutes. Nice to see Ruud van Nistelrooy giving the youngster more minutes. Later on Jake Evans, Patson Daka, Bouba Soumare and finally Michael Golding got their time on the field. Golding making his debut for Leicester in Premier League action.

Southampton looks far from a competitive unit at this level, but again nice to see a win and goals scored at King Power Stadium. That will always be applauded.
