This was an exciting game in many ways. First, it was a test against a good side from a good league. It will hopefully give clues to what will come next.

Mads Hermansen made his first full pre-season game, Abdul Fatawu and Bilal El Khannouss also starting the game. This will of course give us all hope that Fatawu is ready. We hope Bilal and Hermansen will stay at the club for now.

James Justin, Victor Kristiansen and Ricardo Pereira were not seen. Pereira probably having an injury issue, Justin reported to be close to a move to Leeds. We do believe that also Victor Kristiansen is in doubt and could be gone before the season start.

Fiorentina did not start their best team, and that gave Leicester an advantage, taking control. Abdul Fatawu and Stephy Mavididi giving the opponent a difficult day. They attacked from the very start, something also Marti Cifuentes would like his teams to do.

Skipp got a starting position again, Choudhury captaining the team from his right back position, pushing high when having the ball. Luke Thomas played to the left and showed his quality.

The pairing of Jannik Vestergaard and Caleb Okoli is one working well, in total they are a very good partnership. Wout Faes is not easy to leave out, but could be sold if the correct offer comes in. Ben Nelson also on the bench, but not at the same level as the three others, have a bit left to come to terms with system and style.

Bouba Soumare and Bilal El Khannouss are players on a high level. Jordan Ayew completing the starting eleven in the role up front. Ayew opened the scoring for Leicester in the 29th minute.

Leicester pushed the game and got a another goal from Abdul Fatawu in the 36th minute. Fantastic raid and cool finishing made it 2-0.

Fiorentina had a few attempts, but in this game it was Leicester most of the time. The opponent made a number of changes after 63 minutes, but it did not change much.

This was a great result and performance from a surprising line-up. If we can keep Hermansen, Ndidi, and Bilal, we have a very strong unit. Few signings are needed.

It’s a difficult act for the manager to balance out as acceptable bids for Bilal El Khannouss, Mads Hermansen and Wilfred Ndidi will be difficult to turn down.

  • Positives
    • Abdul Fatawu showed his class, Mavididi also very positive
    • Jordan Ayew again scoring
    • Solid performance all around, keeping a clean sheet
  • Negatives
    • Monga limping off before the game was finished, would hope it is nothing serious
