The two former Leicester managers Brendan Rodgers and Martin O’Neill has been top news this week. Brendan Rodgers walking out and Martin O’Neill taking over his job at Celtic on an interim contract.

A magnificant start for Martin O’Neill winning 4-0 at home to Falkirk. Also other results worked in favour of Celtic, Hearts losing points in that 2-2 draw with St. Mirren away.

Dermot Desmond, who is and owner and spokesman of the club at the moment, is not the most popular person. The tumult going on at the moment was of course not silenced with the appointment of Martin O’Neill. A protest was seen in and around Celtic Park.

The next fixture coming up is on Sunday against Rangers. This is a semi-final game in the Scottish League Cup. Martin O’Neill is a hero among Celtic fans and his press conferences is always fun and a pleasure to watch.

To see him back, getting a perfect start is fantastic to see. Martin O’Neill is an old school manager with a much more direct and attacking style. When at Leicester, he used all the tools available in football. He used whatever was needed to win games. He was not always winning. However, he was always challenging and chasing a result. He looked to use the best attributes in his players whatsoever.

His first Celtic game vs. Falkirk, mirrored that approach 100%. It’s refreshing to see Martin O’Neill back in action, such a pleasure. He is a man from the holy grale of football, played for and against those special men in the game. He will be running this club until a new man is found, but he will also be able to get results on board, also in Europe, so we just have to wait and see.

Celtic are chasing their next manager and a number of interesting names are in the hat. Robbie Keane, Ange Postecoglou and Bodo Glimt coach Kjetil Knudsen are all mentioned. Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna is also one being talked up. One candidate being heavily linked with Leicester in the summer is also on the list of hot candidates.

On loan from Leicester, Henry Cartwright, came on as a second half sub for Falkirk in this game, but he had no impact on the results. Cartwright (20) has not managed to cement his place in The Bairns team, currently 7th in the table. Cartwright has so far been involved in all 10 games played in the league, but only started 4. He has scored one goal so far.

Kasper Schmeichel was in goal for Celtic. Kelechi Iheanacho is currently out with an injury and not available at this point. Will be interesting to follow the progress under Martin O’Neill as he could be an option for more clubs in need of an interim manager with an eye for a win.
