Leicester manager Marti Cifuentes made eight changes to his line-up. This was far from a surprise. The Leicester squad has enough depth to tackle that type of challenge.
This game is a highlight as Whaddon Road is sold out, 7000 people expected.
A solid start, controlling possession. Early on no real chances. One highlight from the first minutes a great through ball from Silko Thomas to find Skipp’s run. The latter’s cross was blocked out for a corner.
Cheltenham with a few attempts, but nothing serious. Then in the 23rd minute Patson Daka finds the goal. Assisted by Stephy Mavididi. It’s a great bit of movement and a lovely strike from the Zambian for his second of the season.
The in the 30th minute Vestergaard has a header at goal. Cheltenham goalkeeper Joe Day tipping it onto the crossbar, to deny City a second. Begovic has to come in action a few minutes later to stop Cheltenham from an equalizer.
In the 45th minute it’s time for the second Leicester goal today. The ball is bouncing around. Page has the composure to bring it down. Then there’s nice combinations between Page, Mavididi and Skipp. Mavididi gets the ball and spins his man, on the touchline, runs forward. Dribbles inside, ending it all as his shot deflects and ends in goal, 2-0 to Leicester.
