Describing Gary Rowett as the ideal appointment and seeing this happening 18 days later is not a shock, but of course a bit strange. To see the one we believed was the most obvious candidate to bring in, actually getting the job after a long list of people being thrown in, is a bit special.
The problem in this is the recruitment process. Gary Rowett were also seen as one considered at Blackburn, but they went for another short term recruitment in Michael O’Neill. Not surprisingly Leicester again are back recruiting people from the agency Wassermann.
We have seen different candidates turning up in the bookies lists. To see Enzo Maresca, Sean Dyche and Ralph Hassenhutl linked with this position, also having Gareth Southgate and Steven Gerrard in the running, shows that this has not gone as planned.
Gary Rowett was a clear and obvious candidate for this job. His previous connection to the club. His stature as a manager, the fact that he was free, and not attached to a club at this time, made him an easy catch. Why Leicester again used so long time to find him, is of course something to address.
From previous appointments and also having so many different moves in different directions as well as giving signs and possible leaks on Gary Rowett two days ago, we were surprised to see certain outlets coming out with other names and still going on about Sean Dyche and Gareth Southgate long after it was confirmed in an article written by The Telegraph journalist John Percy.
Callum Davidson has joined the staff to assist Gary Rowett. The two have worked together in the past. Davidson (49) was with Rowett at Millwall and Stoke. He has also a long career in football as a player, coach and manager. He was last at Ross County, leaving them late December.
Callum Davidson joined Leicester as a player together with Gary Rowett in the summer of 2000. He was signed from Blackburn and spent four years at the club. Experiencing promotion and two relegations in these four seasons at Leicester. Played 101 league appearances and played in the left back position.
He later has done a lot in football and has been the manager at St. Johnstone and Queens Park in Scottish football. He remarkably managed to win the Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup with St. Johnstone, both trophies coming in the 2020-21 season.

14 games left of the season, with a special and difficult task in front. But no one should be better to take on this task than two very experienced men in the life of football coaching and management.
We are glad to see two former Leicester players getting this opportunity to prove themselves and hopefully bring Leicester to safety in the next months coming up.
Looking forward to see if Gary Rowett with Callum Davidson at his side, can do what we all hope to get this underachieving group of players to perform steadily at their top level.
