We were touting for Gary Rowett and wanted him in the building for an interim role. Looked at him as the perfect fire fighter until the end of the season. Looking up his track record of doing exactly what he is supposed to at Leicester. To save the team from relegation as the main goal.
What has happened since Marti Cifuentes left the club is close to disaster. Two draws away was of course good results, but far from what is needed at this point. To not address concern and point at Gary Rowett on this occasion would be strange.
The team looks like a mess at the moment. Players are trying to play some sort of game we saw under Enzo Maresca. However, they just look like fools at times.
We believed Gary Rowett would set up a team more direct. We thought they would play in a way that does not rely heavily on playing out from the back. This approach is different from what we have seen in the past.
We have not yet seen any attacking style at all. Patson Daka is left alone up front. There is no support from the back to join him in the penalty area to score. It looks fragile and far from a confident set up. Players are moving less than needed and passes goes all over the place.
To play the ball up and more direct must be something to address.

In football it’s not all about planning and decision making from the sidelines. One major and the most important factor is the players out there and their ability to perform. To see Jordan James back in action was a major positive, but he looks a bit away from his best.
To get his energy back in the team and play him in a trio with Mukasa and Winks would suit the team well. Oliver Skipp can drop down to left back or in the central defence, giving Leicester better distribution from the back. Skipp is far too good to be dropped, so to keep them all would be good.
We hope Gary Rowett has the capacity and understanding. These traits will give the team more depth and quality. This should happen without being limited to positions. We were surprised to see Stephy Mavididi losing his place in the team. However, we understand that the manager would like more defensive balance. With Jordan James back in the team, there is no need for Bobby De Cordova-Reid covering up.
The use of Jordan Ayew is also strange. Playing a deep laying forward with his back to the goal and also often wandering out on the wing. Dujuan Richards looks to be out of the picture. He still brings more energy. He is more equipped for that job up front if and when Patson Daka is no longer an option. We would have played Patson Daka the full game and not changed him.
Steve Cooper, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Marti Cifuentes, Andy King and Gary Rowett are the managers we have seen at this football club in the last year or so. All of them randomly moving players in and out, without a momentum. They do believe in rotation and changes, rather than trying to establish a team settling well together.
They can blame injuries and sickness, but at this point the shambles continues under Gary Rowett. We can’t really see a pattern or controlled actions, that is terrible, but we do hope something will happen.
We hope Gary Rowett can get the results needed. With Jordan James back in the team, there should be potential to keep this boat floating.
