We do believe that the announcement of a new manager is imminent. We had a timeline of 24 to 48 hours on the weekend, but it has taken a bit longer.

We are confident Leicester have identified Russell Martin as their next manager and, that the deal proposed and offered to him, has been accepted.

Bids are no longer possible, the list is down, no candidates to bid on.

Russell Martin has been in the picture earlier and over a long period of time. A long term target for the club. He ticks all the boxes for this appointment. To get him at League One level, having the experience he has from his past, is ideal for the long term picture at the club.

We touted for Scott Parker, with the possibility of seeing beyond one season. Russell Martin is the similar character with a background of promoting a club from EFL Championship to Premier League.

The former Rangers and Southampton manager was linked with the vacant position at Watford, but they have, according to Fabrizio Romano, gone for another candidate.

Dave Challinor was seen as a potential candidate yesterday, with his odds being lower and at 4/1. Russell Martin has been on this list since it came up and last seen as a 2/1.

With confirmation that Gary Rowett is out and gone, and the news about a contract proposal given to Russell Martin this weekend, we feel that this looks a settled deal. The club have been waiting for Russell Martin’s confirmation.

Waiting for this to happen very soon, not yet confirmed.
