There are no information from the club about a new manager. No communication, nothing even said about Gary Rowett leaving the club. His contract is said to be until the end of the season, some suggest it was out at the 1st of June, at the moment the prophets are saying it lasts until the 30th of June.
The vocal part of the fanbase will say no to Russell Martin, as his style of play and previous occupations has seen him being stubborn and not pragmatic regarding results, instead living on the belief that his idea of playing football will win them all over in the end.
Listening to Rangers fans, they just hammered him for everything and wanted him out of Glasgow. Southampton fans are more moderate, considering he promoted the club and was sacked before he had the chance to save them from relegation. His time at MK Dons and Swansea have no real referance at this point. It was a status quo situation at both clubs, going neither up or down.
We were hoping for Scott Parker, being interviewed for the manager position at Leicester in previous rounds. Rob Edwards is of course another good alternative, being dismissed by Wolves and available. The fact that we would have liked to see any of these two is the relation to the fanbase, and of course their more pragmatic approach to the game.
Russell Martin has more or less the same in his belt as the two other names above. He has managed in different leagues and at different levels. Promoted Southampton and also been coaching outside England. Scott Parker has a very similar background. Rob Edwards has done it all, promoted sides from League Two to League One up into the Championship and further up to the Premier League.
“I was literally being fingerprinted for the job at Leicester, and then I got a call from U.S. Soccer.”

Canada boss Jesse Marsch reveals how close he was to becoming Leicester City manager pic.twitter.com/mjSv92eqtZ
Jesse March was also one man that had his chance, but snubbed Leicester. Sean Dyche and Graham Potter are said to have done the same. So to get a manager in, is not just going to the shop and find the correct man in a shelf, you can actually be competing with other clubs, for the same candidate.
Leicester owners must be obsessed with this 4-3-3 set up, and playing out from the back, but then they also need the equipment to play that way. But a manager should be able to play the way he wants to. This approach, playing 4-3-3, can’t be the law, it must be a more pragmatic way to football.
So can’t understand why Leicester are going after Russell Martin, if there are other alternatives. But if you talk up people like Dave Challinor, Michael Skubala or other managers from lower ranks, then you could see them end up as Marti Cifuentes, filling shoes in environments that might be to much for them.
