Leicester are back in League One action today, playing Peterborough. They have a new manager in Robbie Savage, who will be in charge of his first league match, coming to King Power Stadium with loads of optimism after a good 4-1 win in the EFL Trophy game vs. Ipswich U21.

We should not focus much on Robbie Savage, but when the former Leicester favourite, returns, we have a few funfacts to share. He was our Scandinavian Player of The Year, 2000/01, playing exceptionally well in that season. Leicester going top of the Premier League in October, with Robbie flourishing. He will be back in Leicester for his league debut as a manager this evening. His former experience from management is in non-league, with Macclesfield and Forest Green Rovers.

He is rookie as manager, but at 51, turning 52 on the 18th of October, his past as a proffesional player in Premier League and also having a huge heart for football, with a past as a pundit, makes him a dangerous man and should not be faulted in any way. Robbie is one that knows, hard work counts, and have an upbringing under special men such as Sir Alex Ferguson (Man Utd), Dario Gradi (Crewe) and Martin O’Neill (Leicester). He battles and use his tricks, as he told everyone in press conference before the match, he was surprised, he was booed by Leicester fans, back in the days, “coming home”, playing for Birmingham. Having met Robbie Savage on several occassions, one in Oslo, when he scored a screamer for Wales vs. Norway in their 2-3 defeat at Ullevål, back in the year 2001, we all know he can be full surprises and can outfox anyone.

Russell Martin will come up against a team that are second from bottom, and in all fearness, anything else than a win, will be a huge disappointment, regardless of how many chances Leicester create. The ball must be placed in the net, the convertion rate must be lifted to a totally different level.

There are several important discussion points, one being the high number of absentees. Fitness issues are a big concern. Conor Chaplin hasn’t played any league minutes this season due to ongoing problems, which also affected him last season at Portsmouth, causing him to miss many games. Ben Nelson and Jacub Stolarczyk are likely out for the entire season due to serious knee injuries. Jayden Joseph has unspecified fitness issues and will miss the game against Peterborough. Christian McFarlane and new signing Will Smallbone are also unavailable.

Peterborough are also dealing with several injury concerns ahead of the trip to the King Power Stadium. Aston Villa loanee Josh Feeney has returned from Scotland Under-21s duty with a knee injury and is a doubt, while defender Tom O’Connor is set to miss the game and feature for the Under-21s against Nottingham Forest on Friday. Former City defender Sam Hughes and Rio Adebisi are both long-term absentees and will miss the game.
