Leicester City announced the shirt numbers of the season, leaving the number three shirt open to their magical mystery man who could be signed before the transfer window close in early October. So far the only signing of the season, Timothy Castagne, is a right footed full back and by experts just seen as a emergency solution to the left and playing to the right at both club and nation.

A number of websites do believe that the number three shirt is still vacant due to the interest in St. Etienne defender Wesley Fofana, but if this move goes through it will a big surprise as he is not really a first team alternative yet, only 19 years old and not a full season of games in the top flight in France. Leicester City might be interested, but not to fill the gap at the left.
If Brendan Rodgers use big money on the 19 year old French/Malian defender we would really start worrying about the future of the club as this would just be another fringe signing and that is not what is needed at the moment.
We would believe that Brendan Rodgers will keep the number three shirt vacant to land a full replacement for Ben Chilwell and it that postion Wesley Fofana is certainly not an alternative. We would rather see a player who can just fill the gap straight away.

Real Madrid left back Sergio Reguilon, on loan at Sevilla last season, is close to being an ideal signing as he impressed heavily last season, also winning the Europa League final while on loan, but his price tag might be a bit high, and to pay in the region of £30million could be too much. This is a great prospect and at 23 year of age a fantastic catch if you manage to win such a race and are willing to pay the asking price.
Embed from Getty ImagesThe last and probably best prospect is Atalanta defender Robin Gosens. A player that has shone heavily and recently made his full international debut for Germany. Gosens (26) is at an ideal age and he is a player that has just climbed the ladder fantastically over the last few years, playing mainly in the Dutch league with Vitesse and Heracles before joining Atalanta in 2017. He can operate both at left back and as a left flank midfielder. Gosens is born in Germany and grew up in Emmerich am Rein just 4km from the Dutch border, and just his climb in football makes him really ideal for Leicester City and would love to see him join.
There are also a number of other left full-backs in the mix, with Danny Rose (Spurs), Ryan Bertrand (Southampton), Matt Target (Aston Villa), Kieran Tierney (Arsenal), Alex Telles (Porto), Charlie Taylor (Burnley), Max Clark (Vitesse), Nico Henry (Brentford) and Joe Bryen (Fulham) all being linked in the past.
