AEK Athens 1, Leicester 2, positives and negatives, player ratings, and match report

A team picked with a bit of rotation, Jonny Evans and Timothy Castagne missing the game due to injuries, but again an interesting line-up with quality on all positions, a rare start also for captain Wes Morgan, playing alongside 17 year younger Wesley Fofana.

As said before many times, fielding James Maddison and Jamie Vardy, both the most important piano players at Leicester City, you can rig up the team around them with most of the players in the squad and get a result. Wesley Fofana is also showing promise of being in the “piano” category, and with Kasper in goal you have the four that moves this team forward as the most important.

The game was still young when Jamie Vardy went down in the penalty area and was clearly fouled and rewarded, and not bothering him much he was of course the executer himself. The AEK goalie was after the ball, but down into the left corner it went and Leicester was 1-0 up after 16 minutes.

Leicester had control and with their pressure they got a number of chances and close to the finish of first half Hamza Choudhury placed the ball with a clinical shot down left and it was 2-0 on the scoresheet, ending the first half.

AEK made a few chances for 2nd half and they managed to score after just 48 minutes, with former Hammarby forward Tankovic finishing and suddenly it was a bit of excitement again, but with a solid bench and a few changes in the Leicester team it was not much more to see from this game.

AEK had a few attempts and a great shot from Under hitting the bar, could have seen both teams score one more, but it all faded out and in the finish 2-1 to Leicester City. Another solid performance from all players and staying on winning ways in Europe.
