Another team selection based on the opponent and system chosen also for that purpose, but also considering a number of injuries, it looked as a good plan, though few had believed it would turn out as a perfect masterplan again from Brendan RodgersEmbed from Getty Images
Leeds forward Patrick Bamford is not yet showing the stability you need to be a top forward in the Premier League and also to get into a contest of being an England forward contestant, and he missed a chance early on, to see England internationals Harvey Barnes and Jamie Vardy turning the Leeds defence into a “clown scene” just seconds after and suddenly Leicester City were 1-0 up after a just a few minutes played.
After 21 minutes it was time again for a new goal as Youri Tielemans was the last player on the ball in another great attack and the first half then became a controlled act of good defending from Leicester City, though Leeds United tried their best.Embed from Getty Images
Coming out to 2nd half we had of course hoped for a controlled affair, but Leeds shocked Leicester early on with an early goal scored by Stuart Dallas, and then Leeds pushed on, but with Jamie Vardy and also Harvey Barnes threatening with electric pace, you will almost certainly get the goals you believe you can score.
And again Jamie Vardy showed his skills scoring a lovely goal with fantastically assisted by sub Chengiz Under, who again became a vital vitamin injection when he came on, and setting Jamie up to score his goal. Leicester were 3-1 up after 76 minutes and had in real killed the game.Embed from Getty Images
Youri Tielemans was given the chance to score from the penalty spot late in the game as James Maddison was “taken down” inside the penalty box, and with a well working VAR system helping the referee to see his mistake and change. A conversion from Youri Tielemans was a class act as he hammered the ball up in the left corner, 4-1.
It’s a wonderful result, especially when you look at how well players were following the game plan and often against very offensive teams, you must defend deep as Leicester did, and in the system played it worked really well.
Fantastic to see Leicester 2nd in the table and of course in reach of that top position, chasing Liverpool at the top. Top class from Brendan Rodgers and he know looks close to have found a way to get results out of games and build a certain plan for each opponent. It looks very good, let’s hope we will not get any slip up’s in the next games coming up, v. Braga and Wolves, both at home.
