No moves, just another day of despair as Leicester City’s transfer window ends ice cold

We all knew that this could be the scenario and that the situation would be zero additions and little or no movement in the transfer market. We did see a number of players leaving and good to see that both Demarai Gray and Islam Slimani were able to find new challenges elsewhere giving Brendan Rodgers two less to think about.

So why didn’t Leicester City add to their squad, and let Hamza Choudhury leave as he would have given the club at least a bit of cash. Was it because their were no funds available, not the right players available or just not really bothered about bringing any players in.

It’s a difficult mix, you cannot just bring in bodies for a big fee if you don’t have a certain plan behind the move, it would be foolish to bring in someone you cannot really see the use of. The squad with all players available doesn’t need much of a tune, as it looks in reach of those European positions, which is outlined as a goal for the club, and it shouldn’t be a bolder goal since it’s a realistic one.

Of course you would love to see the addition of a new face, and to bring in a guy on loan with a possible chance to play would have been nice, and we all knew that Leicester City were keen on Ainsley Maitland-Niles or Nathanial Chalobah in the end and to see the club linked with Christian Eriksen was of course a thrill, and even Martin Ødegaard was mentioned early on, and yes there were interest from the club to add one or two, but it all ended up in zero.

Looking at the squad you have good cover in the goalkeeper department, you have a settled group of players in the backline, midfield of course will be suffering without Wilfred Ndidi, but with Hamza and Mendy both on board, it should be possible to bring in points. Up front it looks ok as well, but sadly Ayoze Perez is not using his chances with Vardy absent, he should have taken better care of his opportunity.

It was as written above a blow not to get anything this January, but all in all the squad looks good and hopefully games will be won and the current league position obtained, then no one, not a single Leicester City fan will be disappointed.

We will of course start our update on new players rumoured to join us in the summer as fast as the rumour mill starts running again, and as always you will find a rolling update, enter here
