The last time Leicester won at Home Park was back in September 1955. The only goal of the game was scored by Arthur Rowley. This sums up how difficult it has been to get a win at this ground and it became a nightmare again today.

Leicester started brightly and even scored, but Patson Daka was clearly offside, so no goal. Chances were spoiled with the end product far from what you need to get the ball in the net.

Then after 21 minutes, KDH sloppiness with a pass is snapped up by Plymouth and the ball gets fast forward to Mustapha Bundu who just scores from a well placed finish, not being pressured at all by Wout Faes, who could closed the shot down, but his weak act and low pressure made it instead a 1-0 lead to The Pilgrims.

Leicester had the possession, 70% of it, but good defending from Plymouth defenders made it difficult to get anything more than cleared half chances. A lot of sloppy deliveres and without any distinct plan, it just becomes random. Leicester never managed to break Plymouth down as the 1st half ebbed out with that single goal scored by the home team.

Early 2nd half Enzo Maresca decided to make a change, taking off Wilfred Ndidi and bringing on Dennis Praet. Possibly because Ndidi had a yellow and probably also a bit tired, as the Nigerian international probably is not 100% yet, after being out with injured.

Leicester stumbled at the final hurdle again, and it looks as if there are not a plan for play at all. Patson Daka looking like a shivering leaf, with no self confidence. He is doing things in front of goal that a professional player should not, looking like a Sunday League amateur at times, with terrible and horror ball control and finishing. He looks so unbalanced at times that it hurts to watch.

Jamie Vardy came on as the other sub, replacing Daka shortly after he had missed a massive chance to score, with the 37 year old not lucky at all and struggling in the same ay as Daka, as the way of play looks to have gone to the ground.

Plymouth made more changes, all five, with Enzo Maresca again losing out totally in tactical decision making and not using subs to change the rythm, he looks very weak in this part of the management job.

This was again a frustrating afternoon, but hopefully a turn can happen, as Leicester take on West Bromwich and Southampton in their next two games, both at home, both possible wins.

  • Positives
    • A good and agressive start, but sadly no goals scored
    • Mavadidi tried to do something, credit to him for that
  • Negatives
    • Wout Faes, he needs a rest, Conor Coardy can play for the rest of the season
    • Not enough changes made towards the end or even earlier in the 2nd half
    • Performances all over were poor, very poor, taking the ball into locked and crowded areas
    • Wingers play on their wrong foot, that is often a difficult act as passes often slides away from the forwards and not to them, to get some sort of change, just let them switch
    • Yellow cards to Vestergaard and Ndidi
    • Sloppiness, especially Winks passing was dreadfull, Daka performance a nightmare to watch
    • With 70% possession, Enzo Maresca needs to push more players forward and should at least towards the last 20 minutes in the games have a plan to play two forwards up front.

Player Ratings: Hermansen 5, Pereira 5, Faes 3, Vestergaard 5, Justin 4, Winks 3, Dewsbury-Hall 4, Mavididi 5, Fatawu 4, Daka 2, Ndidi 4, Subs: Praet, Vardy
