Leicester need to build their squad for the new season in guidelines with rules of the Premier League.
This means that signing new players is not always straight forward. The squad cannot be just a random group of players.
All of it must be planned and structured. In the squad at present. 8 out of 25 players must be home grown, which means that you need to have spent more than three years in an English or Welsh academy, before the age of 21, prior to your registration in this squad.
Players aged u.21, this season, being born before 1st of January, can play in the first team without being part of the 25 players registered. Michael Golding, Ben Nelson and Will Alves are all in this category and will not take space among the 25. Abdul Fatawu, despite being under the age of 21, will be among the 25, and since he is not home grown, taking one of the 17 places not part of that list of 8 to be seen above the age of 21, and home grown.
At this point Leicesrer have no problem to fill their list with 8 home grown players. Danny Ward, Conor Coady, James Justin, Tom Cannon, Daniel Iversen, Harry Winks, Stephy Mawididi, Kasey McAteer, Bobby De Cordova-Reid, Hamza Choudhury, Luke Thomas, Harry Souttar and Jacub Stolarczyk are among them.
If the club should decide to sell a number if these home grown men taking up space in the squad and not get to the tally of 8, then they need to reduce the total amount of players listed among 17,
Looking at the 17 players that are possible, Leicester need a thorough look on their list and it could also indicate changes before the 25 names are announced.
Mads Hermansen, Ricardo Pereira, Jannik Vestergaard, Wout Faes, Wilfred Ndidi, Victor Kristiansen, Bouba Soumare, Abdul Fatawu and Patson Daka are the players who are among those that will fill the list of 17.
Leicester manager Steve Cooper can at this point fill the places vacant with players from foreign countries if he likes to do that, and at this point we have seen players from Serie A and La Liga among the group of linked players.
Another point to bring on board is the fact that the January transfer window should and must be planned, having space or ability to strengthen the squad.
