Gary O’Neil is the favorite to become the next Leicester manager. This is apparent if you are relying on the latest odds being published today. O’Neil use Wasserman as an agent. Leicester have strong relaton to this agency. Wasserman is the current agent of Enzo Maresca and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. Ben Nelson and Luke Thomas are also on their books.
The fact that O’Neil is said to have been interviewed for the job, makes it possible to see him above both Danny Rohl and Sean Dyche in the list of candidates in the running to become the next Leicester manager. O’Neil is available and has been out of a job since leaving Wolves early last season.
The talk of appointing Andy King looks far down in priority. Hopefully him and Andrew Hughes have a life at the club long term. They are solid and grounded people who could be major assets for the club going forward.
Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett does on the other hand claim in a recent update that Danny Rohl is the preferred candidate. He is also reflecting on a possible of other appointments. There are from other articles suggested that both Chris Wilder and Gary O’Neil have been interviewed. Dorsett also said he will not rule out Sean Dyche completely, but the former Everton and Burnley manager is said to be more eager to wait for a Premier League job.
Danny Rohl is the candidate most popular among Leicester fans. This is based on his character, philosophy and style. He have previously worked for Bayern Munich, Red Bull Leipzig and the German national team. Also seen as the ideal man regarding age. Rohl is 36. He is a schooled coach. He has no playing background giving him any advantages.
Chris Wilder and Sean Dyche looks to be far from aligned with the club’s current direction. Appointing them, may not reflect what is going on at the club at the moment, regarding youth development and the modern thinking of how the game should be played.
If Leicester decide to appoint the current odds favourite, Gary O’Neil, it could be difficult for certain parts of the fanbase to accept it. O’Neil would need a very good start to convince them he is the right man for the job.

Michael Carrick is not mentioned in the Sky Sports post, bout could be one of those unnamed. However, he would be accepted by Leicester fans as an appointment to back. He is currently 6th among candidates on Oddschecker. He is considered the best by a majority of fans, if Danny Rohl is not reachable. The fact that Leicester are said to have talked to Gary O’Neil, and that odds are down on him, being there to take charge, without any compensations to be paid, might see him coming.
The Sky Sports article do not completly align with the current odds on who will become the next Leicester manager. They are moderating their assumptions, believing four or five men are in the run here, but have no order on the candidates.
We are hopeful that this will be sorted out quickly. We are all in for Danny Rohl to be appointed Leicester manager later this week. The next manager is expected to be there in time for the OH Leuven game. That should certainly not rule out Gary O’Neil from getting the job.
