UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 is on. A number of Leicester players are involved. We have looked them all up as well as talking about some other facts on other players. Leicester looks to build a steady progress as they prepare for next season.
Leicester women finished their season in 10th position, having Brighton and Tottenham behind them in the WSL. 5 wins, 5 draws and 12 lossess to count, bringing home a total of 20 points. Well done job to keep their place in the top flight and hopefully progressing from their position next season. 40 year old, French, Amandine Miquel, was appointed manager last summer.
The women team is progressing season by season. Exciting to see young new talents getting games in the first team. Nelly Las (17) is one that has expressed herself this season, coming into the first team frame as well as playing regularly for England U19.
There are not just youngsters in this set up, balanced out correctly with loads of routine inside the camp. Goalkeeper Janine Leitzig. The 26 year old German international has a long career behind her, before joining Leicester from Bayern Munich in 2023.
Belgian international Janice Cayman is one of several Leicester players being called by their nations to take part in this years European Championships. The 37 year old midfielder is joined by 24 year old defender Sari Kees. Wales are in the finals as well. Forward Hannah Cain and goalkeeper Olivia Clark ar both in their squad.
25 year old winger, Hlin Eiriksdottir is in the Iceland squad. 25 year old forward Jutta Rantala represents Finland. Goalkeeper Liz Kop who left Leicester for Tottenham last season is in the Netherlands squad.

Hannah Cain and Olivia Clarke both started for Wales when they played Netherlands in the first game of the tournament. Liz Kop was an unused sub for the Dutch team, coming out 3-0 winners on the day.
In the game between Iceland and Finland, ending in a 1-0 win to Finland. Hlin Eirikdottir started the game for Iceland, playing 54 minutes. Jutta Rantala came on as a sub in the 78th minute, taking part as Finland secured their victory.
Finland will play Norway today. Jutta Rantala hopefully getting more minutes, being on the subs bench from start. Hlin Eiriksdottir will later tonight find out if she is in the Iceland team taking on Switzerland as the group games heats up.
Looking at players coming and going. Saori Takarada will not be with Leicester next season. She has made a move back to Japan to play for her former club, Cerezo Osaka. She joined Leicester from Swedish club Linkoping FC back in 2024. She played 25 league games for Leicester, scoring 1 goal.
