Going back ten years to that lovely season winning Premier League. We believe that Leicester could have done much better not using a single penny on new players. Instead, they should have trusted what they had. Youngsters being nursed through at the right time, added them on when ready.
Staying in the Premier League you had very few players asking for a move from Leicester. N’Golo Kantè had a drive to leave the club for something else. Danny Drinkwater also wanted to leave. Riyad Mahrez was another player with the desire to move on.
Remember Leicester had Andrej Kramaric. He has excelled at both club and international levels since leaving Leicester. He has been at Hoffenheim all the time and has also played a special role for Croatia.
In real as a football follower for years, transfers should be done to earn money. New players should gradually be pushed through from your own academy. Leicester are among the best at developing footballers. So, in reality, why look to Ajax and Benfica? Leicester are up there among the best.
Claudio Ranieri lost his job more or less because he had no real control when it came to transfers. He used money for fun and signed up players he had no use for. Jeffrey Schlupp and Andrej Kramaric were both sold by Claudio Ranieri, they should have stayed.
Leicester could have cashed in on Kantè, Drinkwater and Mahrez. Replacing them with players allready at the club. Andy King could have got his midfield role back for a few more seasons after Kantè left. Alternatively, you could have trusted Jeffrey Schlupp. He has often been playing in midfield for Crystal Palace. Schlupp has been a steady Premier League performer over years.

Leicester should have stayed loyal a bit longer to some of those who got us that league trophy. They should not have made panic buys.
Hamza Choudhury, Harvey Barnes and Ben Chilwell were all in the background at this time. Elliott Moore, George Hirst, Josh Knight, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Joe Dodoo all coming up and through. Callum Elder and Calvin Bassey were both pushing. Daniel Iversen and Viktor Johansson were two goalkeepers with a talent to at least be a cover.
If you had nursed these players through, you could have built a good squad. This squad would have been strong enough to remain at the highest level.
Going into the transfer market before checking your own backyard is a significant mistake. Leicester has made this error with many different managers.
Looking back all these years, only a few signings were done with a special edge. These included Harry Maguire, Ricardo Pereira, Wilfred Ndidi, Youri Tielemans, James Maddison, and James Justin. The rest has been waste of money, you had players with better quality at the club allready. Abdul Fatawu is a raw diamond but not at all one that can be said to have had a breakthrough at the highest level.
Kasper Schmeichel could still be the number one. As a number two, Ben Hamer, Jacub Stolarczyk, Viktor Johansson or Daniel Iversen could have done a good job.
Defenders on the books, Daniel Amartey, Ben Chilwell, Calvin Bassey, Elliott Moore, Ben Nelson, Luke Thomas and Olabade Aluko. These players played in a back three or a back four would have had no problem to solve the challenges.
In midfield you could have called on Jeffrey Schlupp, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Will Alves, Andrej Kramaric, Hamza Choudhury and Sammy Braybrooke. Also having Louis Page and Jaden Joseph to bring in if needed.
Up front Jamie Vardy would still be a great alternative. Kasey McAteer, Harvey Barnes, Wanya Marcal, Demarai Gray and Kasey McAteer would have been more than good enough. George Hirst being a back up for JV9. Jeremy Monga is also a name coming through at this point.
This would have given Leicester a better team than what they in real have today, playing in a 4-2-3-1 set up, this season.
Schmeichel – Moore, Nelson, Bassey, Chilwell – Choudhury, Dewsbury-Hall, Kramaric – Vardy, Gray, Barnes
Subs; Schlupp, Amartey, Choudhury, Gray, Alves, McAteer, Monga, Page, Marcal, Braybrooke, Knight, Aluko, Joseph, Hirst
There is no need for Leicester to splash cash. They could have sold those who wanted to leave, Mahrez, Drinkwater and Kantè, £145million in the bank.
We believe such a strategy could have seen Trey Nyoni staying on, instead of moving to Liverpool. That would have been another massive player to have on the books.
