It was unexpected to see new candidates from the SEG football agency turning up, when we anticipated the announcement of the next Leicester manager to be out today. The SEG agency have Dick Schreuder, the NEC Nijmegen boss, as a client, another is former Man Utd and Feyenoord assistant Renè Hake.
SEG is also where you will find Ped Guardiola and the Man City connections are strong. This agency have their special connections to City Group. Leicester’s new Sports Director, James McCarron, has a previous life in that evironment.
Leicester have not gone public with anything, even no news about Gary Rowett and his departure. There are no talk of progress, no talk about a short list or long list, nothing. So all the noice from outside, have in real made us all more or less certain that this run for Russell Martin was one settled.
Must admit that this change in news, is a bit of a surprise. We believed no other club were in for Russell Martin at this point, after Watford and Blackburn ended up with other alternatives. Burnley is said to be monitoring Russell Martin, with a certain Steven Gerrard being the bookes favourites to take over at Turf Moor. Strange if Russell Martin would turn Leicester down, and join Burnley, knowing clearly he is far from a first choice for The Clarets.
If the Russell Martin approach leads to nothing, that would be seen as a major failure for Leicester.
Twist in Leicester City's manager search with noise coming out of the Netherlands that former Man United and Feyenoord No.2 Rene Hake is under consideration.

We pinpointed Renè Hake as the man to assist Ruud van Nistelrooy at Leicester, but the former Man Utd assistant never appeared, described him as a very special man. Hake eventually took the assistant manager job at Feyenoord when being approached by Robin van Persie, leaving Man Utd with the dismissal of Erik ten Hag.
To see Hake and Van Persie leave Feyenoord was strange, especially after finishing as league runners-up and qualifying for Europe next season, which shouldn’t warrant getting fired.
The current odds are saying Russell Martin still the favourite for the job at Leicester, Renè Hake is not considered at all in the bookies odds..
Again, appointing a new manager, finding the path to progress, looks a massive challenge for this football club.
