As soon as Fran Vieites walked out the door a new goalkeeper walks in. Franco Ravizzoli is the name of the shot stopper, coming from Blackpool for an undisclosed fee.

Ravizzoli is 29 years old, having a past with the Seasiders as well as having played for MK Dons, Wycombe and Eastbourne Borough. He was never a first choice at Blackpool and is it looks a third alternative at Leicester.

Of course great to have him in, but still a strange signing and one who will not be significant for the outcome of the season. Alex McCarthy has also been signed on a free this summer, but still we rate Jacub Stolarczyk as the best goalkeeper at this football club.

Ravizzoli was a cover for N Ireland international Bailey Peacock-Farrell last season. Peacock-Farrell joined on loan, with his deal being permanent from this season. Ravizzoli only played 8 competitive games last season, so surely this addition looks a bit of a surprise.

Alex Smithies, Fran Vieites, Asmir Begovic and Mark Schwarzer are similar additions in the past. They were all seen as covers, but again a fresh chance for Ravizzoli to show his worth.

Jake Evans has agreed to a new contract at Leicester, siging a three year deal, before moving out to Cheltenham on loan for the season, joining Kirsten Otchere, who joined the League Two club last week.

Russell Martin could not guarantee a first team starting position for Tom Wilson-Brown, and with a number of other clubs interest in his services, Leicester looks to be heading for a sale of the promising defender. Stockport are said to be close to an agreement for the player that last season spent time on loan at Swindon.
