From our article yesterday, we are happy to see David “Dai” Cornell signing for Leicester. He has come in on a one year deal. He looks a good addition, joining the group, being an alternative to Ravizzoli and McCarthy. Cornell (35) will arrive with loads of experience from levels above and on. With Stevie Bausor out of the picture, currently on loan at Slough Town and Jacub Stolarczyk injured, this is a good fit.

“Dai” represents Wales, and has been playing at U21 level for his country. He has a long life in professional football, having played for a number of clubs, including St. Mirren, Ipswich and Northampton, last season playing for Preston, being an understudy for former Leicester goalkeeper, Daniel Iversen.

This should complete the squad until January when we believe more changes will occure if it’s needed and again if players leave, which could be happening, due to financial reasons, with a number of players still at the club, that we believed would have left at this time.

Caleb Okoli, Harry Souttar and Wout Faes are those three in question, with other names such as Louis Page, Lorenz Hutchinson and Will Alves most certainly being eyed by clubs above Leicester in the league system. There could be more departures in January, depending on different situations.

Dai Cornell is not the tallest of goalkeepers, 1,80m, and brings to mind former goallies such as Mark Grew (1,78m), Peter Shilton (1,83m) and Kevin Poole (1,78m) who all have been guarding the Leicester goal in the past.

We wish Dai all the best on his journey and hopefully he will be that option Russell Martin is looking for, signing him up in this very important and exciting season.
