Leicester Goalkeeper Search On, Veteran Goalkeeper Eyed

Leicester are searching the market for a new goalkeeper. Free agent David Cornell is said to be the preferred option to cover for Alex McCarthy and Fabrizio Ravizzoli, who are the only available options at the moment.

We understand the need for a third choice, having Jacub Stolarczyk out injured for the season and loaning out Stevie Bausor to Slough Town for a period.

We do not believe much in bringing in older players to just warm the bench, but in football and especially at Leicester to have a third choice, never to use, alternative is very much needed.

We have seen this pattern at the club for a number of years, having hired experienced goalkeepers close to 40 on a number of occassions. Asmir Begovic and Alex Smithies are two examples in the near past.

David Cornell was last seen in action for Preston North End. He has played at the highest level in Scotland, being on loan at St. Mirren. His best spell must be said to have been with Northampton from 2016 to 2020, playing 92 league games for The Cobblers.

Footy Insider correspondent Pete O’Rourke has reported on the matter, so we have to wait and see what happens in the next hours, and possibly having a new goalkeeper at the club, ready to help out this season.
