The name Jannik Vestergaard has been seen in the rumour mill linked to Leicester lately. He was also there last season and the player has been closely followed by scouts from the club over a long period of time. At the age of 29 and a year left on his running contract at Southampton it could be the ideal signing for Leicester.
Vestergaard made his full international debut as far back as 2013, but has struggled to get games under previous manager Aage Hareide as he had other players in front and during his spell in charge Vestergaard only played twelve games with his tally set to eleven afterwards and in total over the last eight years 27 caps. He did in contrast play 28 U.21 games in four years from 2011 to 2015.
Jannik Vestergaard do play alongside Kasper Schmeichel in the national team and he knows the Leicester goalkeeper and that could benefit Leicester in the chase, he is also a player that has been playing regularly at both club and country over the last two seasons and his presence makes him one that Brendan Rodgers probably believe can step in and do the work needed alongside Caglar Soyuncu.
Vestergaard did join the Danish squad in the World Cup 2018, but as we wrote earlier was not first choice under Denmarks former manager and did not play one single minute in the tournament.

Southampton are eager to keep one of their best players but we do know that down at St. Mary’s they do like a good deal done and go out in the market and invest in new players as soon as the transfer fee is settled. Vestergaard joined Saints from Monchengladbach in 2018 and before that had spells with Werder Bremen and Hoffenheim.

Southampton have been in action over pre-season playing four games, three wins and a defeat against Championship and Spanish sides.
