The group of Leicester players as well as ex men are reduced a handfull still part of the World Cup. Harry Souttar (Australia) and Abdul Fatawu (Ghana) both had to see defeats in their knock out games vs. Egypt and Columbia.

Watching Harry Souttar captaining Australia to a 1-1 draw after extra time, and later having a nightmare penalty shoot out, seeing his penalty miss, was a mixed affair. Souttar, was possibly man of the match, appearing with great confidence and quality. Harry fixed the challenge of Salah and Marmoush.

Later Abdul Fatawu also had a to see defeat in his game for Ghana vs. Columbia. Abdul Fatawu came on in the 61st minute. Jordan Ayew also appeared in the game, captaining Ghana, having a struggling game, taken off in second half.

England will face Mexico in their next knock out game. We all can relate to Harry Kane, with his brief loan spell at Leicester all those years ago, but hardly one seen as a player to have a special part in the clubs history. He will forever be a Spurs player as well as doing his business for England and Bayern Munich at this point.

Riyad Mahrez confirmed he will step down from international football after Algeria also left the tournament. If we will see N’Golo Kantè in the 2026 World Cup is not easy to say, he is part of the France squad, but has yet to feature.

Ghana struggled, especially with their captain, Jordan Ayew. At 34, Ayew’s performance has declined over the seasons at Leicester, and this was clear during the World Cup. Hopefully, he can regain his form for his future in the game.

Bilal El Khannouss will be in action tonight facing Canada. The former Leicester attacking midfielder, who just made his full move to Stuttgart, has been a starter in previous games, and with his team tonight favourites to get to the next round.

Belgium is through to the next round with Youri Tielemans and Timothy Castagne in their squad, so there are still several Leicester-related players to watch as the World Cup tournament progresses toward an exciting final.
