James Ward-Prowse is a player that would be perfect to sign if or when Youri Tielemans or James Maddison departs. Ward-Prowse is seen as a potential departure from St. Mary’s this summer.
His current deal with Southampton runs until 2026 and on paper a move looks a bit in the air, but that said to stay or go could be something to consider as he has reached the age of 27.
Ward-Prowse is using the agent ICM Stellar Sports, who are also the representatives of Ben Chilwell, James Justin and Kelechi Iheancho. The fact that major sales has to take place season in and season out for the group as they did Jack Grealish last season and prior to that Ben Chilwell.
A fee of around £30million would see James Ward-Prowse as an attractive player to put out in the market and could be the deal this summer, with Leicester being able to pay the fee and also being attractive if they manage to compete in Europe and with JWP in the team progress in PL next season.
He made his England debut as far back as 2017, but to date has not been involved in more than 10 games and scored to goals. A total of 301 league games played for Southampton and 39 goals telles a successful story so far for the highly rated midfielder.
There are of course probably many options for the midfielder, but moving to Leicester would see him get regular first team football from day one and also be a player suited for the way Brendan Rodgers do like to see his team play.
He also carries a talent that would see Leicester continuing to score goals from midfield which of course is crucial when trying to win football games.
Former Southampton man Charlie Austin has been qouted by The Express to make a move this summer, and Leicester would be the perfect fit as they have a spot to fill if other players are set to make their move away.
