Following Leicester for the last fifty years or so and of course running this website for 24 years, you start to wonder where all the answers are coming from.
Brendan Rodgers fell into a trap together with the other management when they were first of all not able to tie down Tielemans and Maddison to new long term deals.
Secondly they should never given Kasper Schmeichel a chance to leave, as his presence at Leicester were heavily underestimated, as a player, leader and person.
The fact that Christian Fuchs and Wes Morgan also had left made the leadership among players in heavy transition, and Jamie Vardy had also faded into a place in the head of Brendan Rodgers that made him suffer without getting enough game time.
James Maddison and Harvey Barnes are not yet proven leaders and not brick walls of power to call on when you struggle defensively.
Injury problems to key players constantly also play a massive part, and often makes the manager suffer.
The squad balance and the transition is not in line with the correct tempo and probably not addressed to the players who can take that on to the field.
Jonny Evans is one of Europe’s best defenders when fit and he has been out, heavilly missed. The situation with Caglar Soyuncu might be a first reason of concern as he was stamped by Brendan Rodgers not to be ready, while playing for Turkey and being put straight into the team by Dean Smith and also getting a transfer to one of the giants of Europe, Atletico Madrid.
The fact that you have a squad of 25 restriction in PL, and at a stage leaving out senior players from the squad and just let them play in the development team for a game or two, makes it impossible to invest in the squad.
The signings done under Martyn Glover so far are questionable, and not really given the team a massive boost, with Wout Faes being the one to give positives, but not able to lift the team out of problems, other signings have not been trusted by the interim management and surely not better than what was there in the first place.
To invest in the squad you need to be in line with FFP, and with loans being made to finance new signings you need to sell.
It’s an evil spiral, and getting out of it you have to be smart and ready to commit, and of course having a chat line and understanding that goes on at a constant basis.
To see Khun Top being clear in his talk today makes some promise, but the major question is, why did it come to this in the first place.
Getting out of it, you need to keep a momentum among the players who will stay, and of course making good additions equipped for a strong promotion push.
You need to look at players that has done a promotion before from this level and also be sure to value players from the academey, hopefully pushing one or two into the starting line-up.
This will bring positive energy into the project from all angels and hopefully create what is needed to get back up.
