Dean Smith made his presence at Leicester with solid wins at home against Wolves and West Ham, a good away draw vs. Newcastle and of course also negatives as massive games away to Fulham and Leeds did see the real face of this team this season, falling flat at crucial points.
Dean Smith knows his mission failed, but also credit to him for being result minded and doing changes in front of his games that looked good on paper and most often also in field play.
Smith has also shown good leadership during games and subs use and time has not given anyone headaches. So is Dean Smith a candidate for the job, on permanent basis, of course he is.
His experience from previous Jobs at Aston Villa and Brentford, and of course also learning from his time at Norwich and the fact that Leicester are relegated, will see him in this picture. He also have John Terry and Craig Shakespeare with him, and they could be a good team long term. Surely would love to have “Shaky” around, as he knows the club through and through.
Other candidates must of course also be in a search, but regardless of that, the situation with the interim team needs to be decided quickly.
A wish list of manager candidates is of course something to look at, but as we all know, wishes are not always coming through.
We believe that the stature of the club and the possible upside of taking on this project is not just a top call but also one that can be accomplished, with a fast return to Premier League as the one single priority.
Of course we will see a number of player departures, but with the talent work going forward in the academy producing future first teamers as well as seeing a number of new transfer signings being in the hat, we do believe on a swift return.
So who besides Dean Smith will be in the mix for this manager position. Jon Dahl Tomasson is one, Graham Potter is another, a third name to be part of such a search could be Patrick Vieira. Scott Parker and Frank Lampard could be in the frame as well. We do know the Jobs done in this division from the two former England Internationals. and with Vieira you would have one who could turn this around with a clever football mind.
Exciting days in front for the next chapter for this football club as a manager appointment surely is top priority.
