Patson Daka was back in the Leicester squad for their 3rd round Carabao Cup game vs. Liverpool at Anfield, with his former teammate at RB Salzburg, Dominik Szoboszlai, in action for The Reds. The two played together in Austria, winning the league (4) and cup (3), adding up 7 trophies, before making their moves away in 2021.
Dominik Shoboszlai looks to have found the correct environments to progrees, making huge steps at RB Leipzig and this summer joining Liverpool.
Patson Daka had no worries when he joined Leicester in the summer of 2021 for a fee of £23million, coming to a club that had just won the FA Cup, and were in Europe. Still at that time not easy to see how Brendan Rodgers would be able to garantuee the Zambian international regular starting opportunities in a team also having Jamie Vardy and Kelechi Iheanahco to compete for that one top forward role.
Looking at it in the back mirror and what has happened in the recent summer transfer window, as well as limited chances of play, also adding Tom Cannon to the group of top forward alternatives, makes the move to Leicester not really one that has worked out well so far.
Patson Daka (24) is a star icon in Zambia as his contribution to the national side is massive, helping them to next years AFCON, that will of course see him out of club action for a number of weeks in January and possibly February. So far capped 36 times, so far scored 13 goals.
The talent of Patson Daka is not to be questioned, but Enzo Maresca has of course a dilemma with the player, as his future could be elsewhere in January, almost reaching an agreement to join Bournemouth on transfer deadline day 1st of September.
AC Milan, Fulham, Brentford and Everton are all said to be keen on the forward that in the correct environment could be sensational, but so far has had massive struggles to get enough game time at Leicester, during and under three different managers at Leicester. So far played 74 games in all competitions for Leicester, scoring 15 goals, many of these appearances coming on from the subs bench.
Ivan Toney, being a Leicester reject at 15 years of age, is likely to leave Brentford in January, said to be a target for Chelsea and Arsenal, and then The Bees is said having Patson Daka as their number one target as a move hopefully will be happening said to be valued of £20million.
Still early days and with Patson Daka back on the field for Leicester vs. Liverpool, who knows what turn this will take, making his first appearance for the club this season, earlier being named on the bench.
