Leicester were through to the 3rd round of the Carabao Cup, facing a difficult task away at Anfield playing Liverpool. Burton and Tranmere were the previous opponents in this cup competition as it all were suspected to stop at this hurdle.

A new change of personel with 10 new players thrown into the mix from the 1-0 win at home to Bristol City, certainly did us all sceptical of anything else than defeat.

But it looked as if Leicester should shock Liverpool from start, with only 3 minutes gone Kasey McAteer was on fire and scored from close range, being played through by Yusun Akgun.

Leicester continued to play with good and high standard, as they continued to fight and keeping the ball away from their own penalty area, building a good foundation for their fight for a massive result.

We all knew it would be almost impossible to keep Liverpool off distance, but at half time it was still Leicester in the lead.

Coming out 2nd half, Liverpool kept their pressure and just a few minutes into the 2nd half, Leicester fell and the hope of something special to happen dissappeared. Gakpo scored the first, as more goals were conceded, midfielder Szoboszlai with the 2nd and the final spike in the coffin from Jota in 89th minute.

This was in real the expected even with a topped team, but with the number of changes made, a good first half to remember and some excitement of having the lead at Anfield, Leicester can now take on Blackburn away on Saturday with hope for new points to appear.
