Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was the special one last evening, being named player of the season. He has been consistent and delivered quality performances. The achivement was one well deserved. He also had a special and important message to tell us all.
He was earlier in the week also picked for a place in the EFL Championship team of the season. Mads Hermansen also made that team, being seen as the best goalkeeper in the division.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was also picked as the preferred and chosen player for the Scandinavian Branch as the trophy will be handed over to him on Saturday. A group of Norwegian fans are flying over for the game and the special event.
The message is clear, KDH is in no way trying to force a move out of the club, and to ask him to leave to balance the books, would of course be something no one would do. He is on a long term deal running to July 2027, so hopefully our wishes will come through, keeping him would be fantastic. His message to all of us, fans, owners and the lot, will be difficult to ignore.
Lovely to see current players, former players, staff and special guests having a grand evening yesterday when celebrating at Leicester City’s End of Season Awards. “The Birch”, also present, and still going. He will turn 79 in August, so fantastic to see him around. He is special in so many ways, a true legend.
The Birch was recently also a guest on The Alan Hudson Podcast, talking over some lovely memories with host Tony Jiminez and his former Chelsea teammate, Alan Hudson. The players of that generation deserves their own awards, as they surely lifted the game to a level of great heights, having that entertainer and fun factor gene very much in place. Alan Birchenall was a brilliant footballer, but his fame and honours in life came from other achievements and episodes, being awarded an MBE for his services to charity, and of course that iconic kiss.
Lovely to see everyone enjoying themselves on an evening of delight.
