New Leicester manager appointment looks imminent as Oscar already walks in the building and signed in November

Oscar Garcia looks to be the next Leicester manager. He joined OH Leuven in November, and is very much in talks with the hiararchy at the club, as we do see a certain pattern of possible rotation within the system. Garcia (51) fits this solution 100% and it will be no real difficulties in agreeing the move.

As we reported a few days back, Enzo Maresca, had no return ticket on a move to Chelsea, going there speaking with them will of course not be happening if he was not allowed by Leicester to do so. Maresca will most certainly be the next Chelsea manager with Garcia believed to be the next manager at Leicester.

The job to bring in the next manager at OH Leuven will be the challenge coming next, as we do believe this move will happen, knowing what type of uncertainty that goes on at the club at the minute.

Oscar Garcia knows the problematic situation and he is an insider with a previous life in top clubs as well as being in charge at Watford and Brighton in the past.

He is very much part of the Barcelona development route, being a player at their academy from 1984 to 1991 and later a player in the first team frame from 1991 to 1999, playing 69 league games and scoring 21 goals. He later played for Valencia, Espanyol and Lieida, retired at the age of 33.

At the age of 51, he has done a lot as manager, and in the past been in charge of St. Etienne, Olympiacos, RB Salzburg, Maccabi Tel Aviv (twice), Reims and Celta Vigo, before and after his two periods in English football. He also have experience from winning major trophies, being a league winner in Austria and Israel, and a cup winner in Spain.

The way he constructed the end of this season at OH Leuven must have impressed everyone in the KP hierarchy as he managed to bring the club to safety.

So goodbye to Enzoball and his long term project at Leicester, he is a guy aiming high and as so many others in this trade had no eye for a long term relationship when you get an offer from something much bigger and more challenging. As said earlier, Enzo is no different from other managers, as they have little or no loyalty, as long as they can progress within the game, you of course see the potential as high as the sky and don’t really look at the downsides, you are not either taking into the picture that so many people have failed in the same job over the last two decades. But to turn it down, maybe that would have been the wrong thing to do, when you know what type of trouble Leicester can be in, when the season starts.

We have seen different polls brought up, but with all the uncertainty regarding FFP and RSP, Leicester cannot really give any new manager any guarantee of much, so with that pattern in the picture, we are uncertain about the approach towards a new man, and in that situation Oscar Garcia would be the obvious choice as he is very much known in the system and club structure.

Of course nothing concrete or confirmed, but a gut feeling about this one, not seeing a long process being in play for the appointment of the next Leicester manager. Looking at the odds, you have of course a long list of candidates, with Garcia a bit down the pecking order, being 16/1, you also have Jose Mourinho on 16/1, with Graham Potter the top candidate at 4/1. Earlier in the week, we also declared a number of candidates to take on this challenge, but with the points deduction looming, we do believe a few of those names would be reluctant to the job as the risk of being relegated could be high as the sky.
