Over the years we have seen Chelsea showing great interest in Leicester players and it will not stop with a possibility for Enzo Maresca to go back and recruit a few of his former players to Chelsea. Jannik Vestergaard is one that got his career back on track under Enzo. He will most certainly be one player considered to bring in.
Wilfred Ndidi is also out of contract and was turned into an offensive midfielder using his attributes in a total different way as Enzo did see other potentials in the Nigerian international. He has shown he can be trusted in different midfield roles and of course a top quality player earlier being in the picture for a move to Stamford Bridge.
Enzo could also go back to Leicester to try to sign Mads Hermansen and also Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, so up to four Leicester players could potentially go with him to Chelsea and become important players and join up with Wesley Fofana and Ben Chilwell in a Leicester unity down at Stamford Bridge.
The Chelsea project looks exciting and the style of Enzo Maresca would suit Chelsea better than it suits Leicester, because there are better players at Chelsea. They are more adjusted and adaptable to this style of football, then also getting four players on board with one year in the belt under Enzo, would probably give the project even more substance.
What we did see at Leicester was a group of players taking on the belief of their manager and adapt as much as possible, but still as we did see at times, against teams laying low, lack of creativity and top quality, made it difficult to make the correct passes and penetrate directly forward, instead it became too many back and sideway passes, because the extencial part had to be in place, being in possession as much as possible.
No one doubts Enzo Maresca and his vision for football. He was a fantastic player, especially at Sevilla, building his foundation on creativity and grand technique. Early days still as a manager and to be fair, Chelsea is a project coming too early, but getting this chance and turning it down would probably have been strange, as the situation at Leicester is not a rose garden.
For Leicester it will be a new set of life, new players and new chances for those missing out under Enzo, so it will be interesting to see how Leicester, back in the top flight, will set themselves up to build on the best of Enzo and improve what was not so good, interesting weeks ahead.
